In August 2009 Kennywood announced its big 2010 project, a new launch coaster on the current site of the park’s Turnpike car ride. The Turnpike, which has been giving rides since 1966 will be placed into storage with the intent to be reinstalled in the near future. The new, yet to be named coaster will feature a 0-50mph launch in just three seconds, a 95 foot vertical climb, brief cliffhanger, and vertical fall into three inversions including an inverted top hat, barrel roll and corkscrew. Riders will also get to experience moments of airtime, or weightlessness on their return trip to the station.
